“Diggers and Dealers - Interviews from the Booth“

http://www.brr.com.au/event/49024

MONDAY, AUGUST 4, 2008, 6:30 PM.

BRR    Today Boardroom Radio is having a chat at Diggers and Dealers with Coogee at Downer EDI Mining. Coogee, welcome to Boardroom Radio.

10        DOW   Thank you.

BRR    Coogee, you got a booth set up here with about a thousand yoyos. Has this been bringing the planters in?

DOW   We have been getting a little bit of interest. It brings out the youth and the

15                    children in the people. I mean, mining industry has always been one that people are always keen to have a bit of fun.

            BRR    Fundamentally, young at heart.

DOW   Oh, yes. Absolutely. But this is Kalgoorlie, so you know.

20

BRR    Certainly. Is it supposed to be half work and half play up here?

DOW   I think you will probably find there is a lot of play going on here these two or three days. It is going to be the reputation for that.

25        BRR    It does indeed. Are you a Diggers veteran?

DOW   No, this is only my second one. It is good fun. I was here last year and now it is well done. It is one of the better ones and it is around the place. There is a lot of (inaudible) (0:00:43) to things, but this one certainly has a great deal of value and we certainly looked forward to being here.

30

BRR    So tell us a bit about Downer EDI.

DOW   Well, Downer EDI Mining is part of the Downer group, which is a large Australian Stock Exchange-listed company. We employ about 23,000 people worldwide, Downer Mining itself. We are a mining contractor, Australia’s

35                    second largest mining contractor. We just provide a whole broad range of services to the mining industry, everything from basically mine planning and technical evaluation of mine sites, all the way through actually delivering the ore onto the client’s mills and those sorts of particular services.

40        BRR    Pretty much a one-stop shop for the miners?

DOW   Yes, that term has been used internally. We certainly can do that, yes.

BRR    Coogee, thanks for your time, and thanks for talking to Boardroom Radio. Have a good trip.

45        DOW   Thank you.
