TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2008, 2:50 PM.

BRR    Today Boardroom Radio speaks with Mr. Geoff Brown, Head of Market Products at the NZX for the operating metrics for September 2008.

10

                        Welcome to Boardroom Radio, Geoff.

NZX     Yeah, thanks very much and thanks for the opportunity.

September was a very strong month as everyone would expect.  The volatility

15                    we’ve seen in markets was reflected for us in total trades for September up to 17% against the year ago.  The average daily trade we’re up 6% which reflects to additional trading days this September as against last September, but the actual number of average daily trades at 2,647 was the highest month for 2008.  We continue to see an additional strong activity and audit market

20                    with trade numbers up to 30% against a year ago, and value traded almost double September 2007 levels.  The other thing we’ve noted in a number of these conversations in our monthly report is just the market data terminals number which again continues to show increases on a year ago up 5% over the number now at 10,502 is also the highest we saw earlier this year of

25                    10,908 and so, a small fall off on those numbers.  All in all, given that volatility and the improvement that we’ve seen in trade numbers, a pleasing result albeit in a difficult market environment.

BRR    I guess definitely some interesting times.  Thanks for the update today on this

30                    September operating metrics for the NZX.

            NZX     Thank you.
